VISION

Our unique vision how to solve a 30 year old problem.

next: Strategy

Thank you for your interest in our long-term vision. Even though the current legal and social situation in Romania is very difficult, our vision has not changed, and we are glad to offer it to you on this page. At the moment though, we are focussing on helping as many dogs as we can by getting them off the streets and finding them a loving home. We are working tirelessly on improving our basecamp to move towards our vision. Please take this vision as a long-term goal of Citydogs4Streetdogs and know that we are doing everything in our power to – at some happy point in the future and together with your help – get there.
THE ROMANIAN DOGGY PARK

Tourist attraction, information center and adoption home all in one…

The Romanian capital is home to some of the biggest and most beautiful parks in all of Europe. Meanwhile, the city is seeking western tourism.

Right in the middle of the city we would like to designate areas in parks, where people can stroll and play with one of the most endearing animals in the world: the Original Romanian Park Dog.

In these wide-spread, closed-area parks, the streetdogs will be taken care of by a team of doctors, caretakers and volunteers. Children, families and tourists alike will be able to get to play, stroll and cuddle with the park dogs and at the same time get to know more about the Romanian street dog problem – and to donate for more parks and support. All dogs will be neutered for free. Locals will get free advice on how to deal with their own dogs. And best of all: they will be able to adopt clean, healthy Park Dogs and therefore slowly recreate the fact before Ceausescu’s fatal actions over 25 years ago: a home for every Romanian street dog.

The Doggy Parks will quickly become a tourist attraction and start a process of rethinking in the population. The capital will become the proud ‘City of Park Dogs’. And the formerly poor streetdogs will turn into a unique species: ‘The lovable Romanian Park Dog’.

Ce se va intoarce

Everything is already there & the Romanians are ready for it…

The Romanian Government needs new impulses to tackle an old problem. Romania is looking for original tourist attractions. Romanian cities are full of massive and gorgeous park areas. 65% of urban citizens in Romania consider street dogs the biggest issue in their local area. Over half of those surveyed (51%) help street dogs in some way by occasionally feeding or housing them, taking them to a vet or even finding them a new owner.

One in five urban Romanian residents said they would adopt a dog from an animal shelter rather than buying one from a friend or shop. Romanian street dogs are an especially lovable and kind ‘breed’ of dogs.

PRIMUL PAS NOASTRA

Taking one step at a time…

We know, these are big plans. So we will take it step by step. To get proof of concept we will start with a miniature version of the ‘Doggy Parks’.

In the Romanian coutryside we found the perfect test candidate: a confined area where we could test our idea.

While working professionally in Romania, Noëlle and her husband Tobi got aware of the devastating dog problem in the near surroundings: among many other examples, we found 2 surviving dog babies lying next to dozens of other dead ones hidden in stinking holes. Quickly, Noëlle was ready to help. Together with some dog-loving staff, Noëlle helped to improve the situation tremendously. Within just a few months and minimal financial support, about a quarter of the dogs of the area have been neutered and simple shags have been made available to house them.

It quickly became clear to Noëlle that with just a bit of courage and heart, and together with a true and kind team of locals – a solution for these poor creatures could be possible.

URMĂTOARELE ETAPE

Getting proof of concept…

Together with your support from Switzerland, Citydogs4Streetdogs can solve the dog problem at least at this confined area in the next few months.

We will build simple, but effective shags on a designated area of 100x30m. There, all dogs will get neutered and treated. As soon as all dogs are healthy, we will advertise free adoption of the dogs among the local population.

Once succeeded, this little test project will become an important part of our ‘Doggy Parks’ presentation in the capital. Step by step we will create bigger and more impressive projects creating an avalanche effect and proving to skeptical politicians, that our concept works and creates win-win situations (even financially) for everybody.

CONSTRUIREA adăpost

Getting down to work…

George has made plans for simple and still animal friendly shags. The following plan and budget is for 8 dog houses giving shelter to about 2-3 dogs each. We will build them on our designated land.

These cages will be similar to the ones already built by the security manager of the area. This way, the security manager, who is an important link to the management, will support the project. Once the street dogs are healthy or adopted, the cages can be re-used by the security manager to raise his police dog breed. Again: a win-win situation for everyone.
